Bioregional Coalition
The Bioregional Coalition was initially formed in the Winter of 2007 and 25 local groups joined within a few months. Here is the directory in .pdf format of businesses and organizations that joined. While it didn’t take off how we hoped, that’s just as well…
One of the main reasons for starting the coalition was to create easier ways of networking, sharing, communicating, educating, and organizing among people concerned with ecological sustainability. Proof of the need for this can be seen in the popularity of the Transition Vermont Ning website. We had no part in starting the Transition Vermont movement, yet it is excellently fulfilling this major objective of the Bioregional Coalition.
We still need something big for our progression towards an ecologically sustainable, resilient, and harmonious society: greater influence in the political spectrum. This was the other purpose of the Bioregional Coalition and we’re returning to our organizing efforts with this. Now we believe the coalition will be easier to organize with a specific focus of creating a unified and easily deployed voice for lobbying and other democratic purposes.
